The strong-willed leader appointed by Their Divinity themself, Opal is the heart and core of her guild. With her head held high, she has a very bright and optimistic outlook on things, and tries her best to be the best role model she can be for the rest.

She loves to travel, and also dabbles a lot in writing as well— hoping to document his journey and one day go big as an author. She can be a bit idealistic with her dreams and desires, and although her peers hold her in high regard for her candid and supportive attitude, it can be noted that he never seems to give himself a break. Even at his limits, he fails to open up to others when he needs support himself. It’s even more difficult to convince Opal to talk about much deeper troubles too, feeling like he has to carry the sorrows, hopes and dreams of everyone around him to fulfill that ideal leader he dreams of being.

She is a very uplifting and bright leader who knows just what to say to bring someone up, so many of her peers find her very dependable and easy to rely on. Opal is very selfless in that regard and won't turn away almost anyone in need of help, so you can always go to her. He can generally be described as very idealistic and headstrong. He dreams big and she usually gets a lot done, and most of the time this works out just right for her.

Sometimes she moves forward faster than she is capable of though, and makes a lot of mistakes along the way. He hardly relies on others and thus takes and carries every burden on her back without telling a soul because she thinks it makes her a strong leader. This results in bottling all her unpleasant feelings or thoughts, so she secretly feels burned out all the time.

"You might be petty as hell and an awful sore loser, but you always manage to pull through for me, and I know I can depend on you! I especially really appreciate you taking over for me when I couldn't lead, it means a lot!"

"Ahaha, Opal! My buddy, my chum, my good old pal!! You're seriously the coolest person in our guild-- ah, but before me of course! We've had a few rough moments... perhaps more than that but-- you have my utmost respect, as our leader and guildmate!"

At first glance, it looks like they're downright hostile to each other to the public view. They get into a lot of stupid arguments and competitions to prove who's better, yet while they act very petty-- at the end of the day they actually hold high respect for each other. Opal finds Koralo a valuable member of the team and feels relieved to have been able to share the responsibilities of a leader with him even if it was momentarily.

• Both Opal and Koralo are both very physically affectionate individuals overall, the only difference is that Opal can be uncomfortable about people touching her randomly as opposed to touching others herself. As they get closer though, it really shows how much more comfortable Opal gets as he doesn't comment or seem to mind Koralo's random gestures as much.

• Their initial opinions of each other contrasted so much. Opal found him so admirable and serious, being the first knight she ever met. Now she thinks he's kind of a loser, affectionately of course. Koralo on the other hand resented her heavily for carrying this hero role instead of himself, but now thinks of her with much regard.

• Koralo was very grateful that Opal was able to watch over his Rosace for the entirety he wasn't in the team. It actually surprised her how very fond the horse grew of Opal over time.

They're both bookworms, so Giada sometimes beta-reads Opal's works. Giada finds them fun to pass the time and they give Opal the feedback she needs. They're also both horrible enjoyers of chisme™ so they'll sometimes stay up talking shit about people that have personally wronged them. This doesn't affect their relationship, but Opal is a bit envious of how much better Giada is at being a cleric, since he personally struggled with it a bit. But at the same time it's a point of respect for them too.

Opal admires Lucett and thinks they're very smart while the latter is a bit bashful about it. They tend to be friendly with each other most of the time, Opal being appreciative of Lucett's offers to help with certain tasks. Opal also makes sure to give them room to be included in group conversations since they struggle a bit with chiming in all on their own. The two work extremely well in battle together too, since Lucett watches Opal and is able to add on to whatever she's doing.

She first found them literally fainted in the grass of Greenhorne and since then took them into the group so needless to say she worries quite a bit for their wellbeing. Other than that though, she'll sometimes try to spend time together with them since she thinks Gin might feel alienated since they're so young. He'll often sit by their side to just have idle chat, or Opal will come up with a lighthearted story for Gin to read. Sometimes they'll have comments so Opal usually listens for feedback.

Opal admires her yet struggles to talk to her, so it just comes off the wrong way entirely. She's a bit embarrassed to be so intimidated but they both do eventually get more comfortable as time goes on though.

Opal holds an immense amount of admiration for Zaiere. She's one of the few who knows him very well, and vice versa as well. They've sort of become very close friends that don't exactly talk to each other all the time, but have this unspoken trust and appreciation for each other, knowing that the other always has their back. There aren't any awkward or uneasy expectations between the two of them, so they find comfort in being around each other.

• Opal once walked in on Zaiere making origami cranes and was surprised at the sight. He let her observe him intently trying to memorize the techniques but messed up when she tried on her own, accidentally making a crane whos wings ended up being legs instead somehow. Zaiere found it hilarious yet keeps it on display in his room nonetheless-- to Opal's dismay.

• Adding on, Zaiere decided to properly teach her afterwards thankfully. They weren't as good as Opal hoped, but she still improved steadily. When Opal asked why he even knew how to make origami, he lied and said to pass time in the castle. After they grew MUCH closer, long time after they told her the actual reason and she probably cried at how sad the answer was.

Opal found it hard to warm up to Etoze after their first couple of interactions. Neither really wanted to acknowledge to each other that they both weren't the most pleasant to each other, so they kind of held this subtle resentment or distaste for each other while working together begrudgingly. As time went on though, Opal grew to respect Etoze to a decent amount, and also were able to find some common ground in a lot of things. They aren't chummy with one another, but they are on okay terms at the least.

Opal sees Dar as her home. No matter where she is or what is going on, he always feels so secure by their side. Being around him calms her and she feels like she can let down walls entirely in a way he normally is fearful to do. Opal loves to root him on with all his endeavors and bounce ideas off each other together. He's also very appreciative of Dar's honesty as well, since she's not used to criticism that isn't necessarily ill-willed or for the sake of being helpful. She cares about him more than she can express and is eternally grateful for them knocking sense into her at Ghontu Cave too. Opal wants to do whatever she can to support them and he wouldn't trade what they have for the world.

• Dar likes to draw people a lot, but his favorite person to draw is Opal. Look through his sketchbooks and you'll likely find tiny doodles to full pages of her, all with hearts scribbled around them..

• Sometimes Dar will squeeze Opal's hand as a signal that he's stressed, and Opal will try her best to weasle their way out of whatever situation they’re in so she can be there for him more privately, which is usually just a barrage of kisses and whatever kind of comfort he ends up needing at the time

• These two stay up incredibly late working on their own little projects and talking together. Usually Opal falls asleep first since she can’t stay up as long as Dar can, so Dar has gotten used to having to grab a blanket for her and sometimes gives her a kiss on the forehead before going back to whatever he’s working on.

• Being the kind of person to probably hug plushies to sleep, Opal obviously clings onto Dar when they go to bed. Dar is surprised the first time around, but actually ends up finding it adorable.

• Opal often comes to Dar when she's overwhelmed just to have his company, since watching him draw and hearing his voice often calms her down incredibly easily.

• While Opal is big on pet names, Dar only saves them for more intimate moments, which never fails to make Opal practically combust on the spot when he does use them

• They have a lot of movie and game nights... if only they both didn’t spend hours browsing through all of their choices being indecisive as hell, only to choose the exact same things they always resort to watching/playing. Not that either of them really mind that though.

• With gaming nights though, they’re both actually surprisingly competitive when it comes to video games. They both make little bets on what the loser has to do, despite the fact that neither of them mind it in any case. Doesn’t stop either of them from trying to win though—

• These two have a combo move they came up with together combining the scientists Ignite with the princess’s Ultimate Wave that they've been trying their best to perfect, and when they finally did they were both absolutely ecstatic about it. Opal probably didn’t shut up about how proud she was for a week probably

• After defeating a monster together, Opal always rushes to hug Dar and the two just sort of hold on to each other happily praising and gushing about how awesome the other was in battle

• They definitely both go out to explore every now and then since even after the adventure, Opal still holds a passion for travel. Dar doesn’t mind since well- he would probably follow Opal to the ends of the Earth anyways

• Speaking of travel though, since Opals traveled to many different places that Dar hadn’t seen before since he kind of got taken away for that short bit in Neksdor Opal definitely brings him to the most gorgeous spots she’d been to like Lotus Lake and such for their dates

• Opal loves just holding Dar and lifting him up into the air or carrying him bridal style and spinning around. She’s strong enough to do it of course, and while embarrassed enough to not admit to it, Dar actually loves when she does this.

• Dar can’t dance very well but Opal definitely can, which eventually leads to an embarrassing yet sweet moment alone together of Opal trying to teach Dar how to dance…

• Dar also cannot cook for the life of himself, compared to Opal who’s been mostly self sufficient all her life in that regard. He’d probably try to surprise her by cooking something even she’s never made before, but Opal would just return to an absolute mess in the kitchen. He probably felt awful about it afterwards for being a screw up but Opal reassures him that it’s fine and offers to try again and learn it together with him.

• You'd think for someone who so confidently dishes out affection like it’s nothing, that Opal would be able to take it as well. But no, Opals a mess every time Dar does anything of the sort, especially physically. In the rare instances he does initiate these things like kisses and chaste gestures, these moments are always so incredibly drawn out and loving, and Opal can’t help but absolutely melt into his touch each time.

• While Dar’s affection is more intimate and soft, Opals usual affection is a lot more quick and fleeting, something that’d likely make your heart skip a beat. Which is mostly because she’s so sporadic, but also because the thought of initiating more intimate moments like Dar does herself makes her incredibly flustered.

• Opal loves to shower Dar in kisses frequently. Just quick little pecks at the most random moments whenever she possibly can. She always loves seeing the surprised look on his face each time too.

• Dar already smiles a lot around Opal, but every time she does something that leaves him in awe or admiring her, which is extremely often he just has this incredibly soft look of complete adoration on his face that just makes Opals heart burst.

• Being the hopeless romantic that she is, Opals such an incredibly big sap. Almost sickeningly so. In their softer moments together, she can’t help but say the same old mushy things she always does about how much she loves him and how happy he makes her.. but honestly it always makes Dar happy to hear, especially given that he’s the kind to worry about not being good enough for her, the constant reassurement lets him slowly learn how to believe it for himself.

At first, she was super concerned about having a kid on the team for the SECOND time, considering how Gin went. Although this kid was nothing like he could've ever imagined-- Agate is a bit too all over the place for Opal to stay calm honestly. She definitely respects the chef's cooking abilities and how true mim is to myrself, but the constant chaos making that he creates throws Opal off far too much. He does think mim is fun and it is sometimes nice being around her since mim's good at making people laugh, but she also would not trust this child with his life. At ALL.

After Mani is freed from the curse, he becomes something like… a second mentor to Opal. But unlike Isleen, Mani is not up for anyone’s games. Much more strict, but without the doting and kindness. At least at first, since he begrudgingly gets attached in the end. And Opal finds his presence nice after a while, they’re entirely honest and she appreciates that. Opal probably pokes fun at them.

Living with her mother, father and older sibling, Inez, Opal was born and raised in Nimbus essentially all her life. He got along well with his sibling for the most part, but had a rather difficult relationship with both parents. Both seemed to be pretty engrossed in their work lives to the point they didn't spend much time with their kids. Inez was more of a good parental figure than her actual parents in fact- and to add on, Opal was even the lesser favored of the two siblings by their parents.

At first, Opal grew up trying to please her parents, both to seek approval and to avoid their scorn. She always tried sharing things she was proud of or trying to ease their burdens, but lied and went to extreme measures to hide even her smallest mistakes so they wouldn't hurt him in one way or another. But even as she tried her hardest to come off as a golden child, they always still had something to nitpick, something to compare, or they didn't care at all. It wasn't worth it at some point. Even going to them about struggles, nothing but scorn and talking about how much harder they had it, how much harder Inez had it than him. The only reasons they ever cared was when they needed various favors from her, and she couldn't ever really talk back or say no to them.

Although Opal had a positive influence in her life in the form of Inez, he wanted to search for connection elsewhere- not depending on someone but being depended on. This led to many many friendships and a few romantic relationships where she gave her whole self; energy, time, and support; to her peers. In those relationships however- she never asked for anything in return, she never let herself be open about her struggles or showed herself to them. Her peers would offer their help and support if he ever needed it, but never would he take them up on that offer. He was a master of pulling wool over the eyes of those around him, nothing would ever be wrong, he'd say.

Despite believing he was being true to himself in front of others, he really only presented the sides of himself people cared about, sides they wanted to see. Helpful and never throwing her problems onto others. Everyone had it worser than her, surely. And while she was carrying everyone's burdens, her burdens were always her own. Yet everyone liked her, needed her even— and she thrived on that appreciation, one that she couldn't even fathom giving to herself. She loved and cared about all the attention on her, but also cared so little- it was fulfilling yet it wasn't at all. Something missing that couldn't be satisfied. But as long as the people around her were happy, Opal was sure he was doing something right, surely?

While Opal's life had always been full of needless selflessness, she had always found personal joy and happiness in the act of storytelling. She loved stories for as long as she remembered, idolizing the heroes of the stories he read and dreamed of being just like them: strong, resilient, dependable and unwavering. Writing itself had brought her comfort over the years, she poured her heart and soul into her works, filling up books upon books of random plotlines and stories that crossed his mind. She loved to do it, it offered a form of escapism and coping from her difficult home life. And once she was nearing graduation, both his peers and Inez encouraged her to pursue writing further.

He wanted to pursue this- he really did. But in his home his parents would never accept that sort of career. He didn't need that acceptance, he didn't care what they had thought. But at the least- it would be much harder living at home and trying to pursue writing unless he had left home. And with that thought- that is exactly what he did. Of course he told everyone as to not make anyone worry over suddenly leaving- but he left nonetheless no matter what. Said he was going on an adventure to explore the world to broaden her horizons, but really she just wanted out of that stuffy house. She wanted freedom and inspiration for the novels she was planning on writing. With a newfound hope, she took off with a skip in her step, completely unaware of what story was about to unfold right before her eyes.

• Opal is inspired by the Opal gemstone. Her first name, Paloma, is a Spanish name meaning "dove" although it also carries several other meanings. Her first last name, Maritza, is a German/Spanish surname meaning "star of the sea" and her second last name, Santin, is a Spanish name deriving from Latin sanctus, meaning "saint."

• She's relatively good at drawing, but considers it more of a little comfort hobby than something she wanted to make into a big thing. She likes ink work in particular.

• Given he's been writing ever since he was young, Opal probably wrote some very bad and cringy fanfiction or stories as a kid. She probably tore them up in her tween years out of embarrassment, but growing older now she kinda regrets that she lost her earliest works.

• She does it anyways at times, but she hates wearing anything extra or unnecessary like jewelry or makeup or tighter clothing because of his sensory issues (he hates the physical sensation it gives him)

• He doesn't worry about how he dresses in front of others despite being really insecure about herself otherwise, wearing pretty much anything casual and airy because it feels comfortable and it doesn't take much effort to put on and get out of. Also because he'd get sad if her fancy pretty clothes got all messed up.

• Opal's a little mediocore when it comes to cooking and feels a bit distraught about it, only being able to cook or make some dishes that dont require much effort but also isn't like a basic untoasted white bread ham sandwich. Fortunately for her, she got to stroke her ego when it came to Neksdor because all of her teammates there were either on par or couldn't even flip an egg at the time.
