Lucett Caiscada

A photographer from Valverde with a penchant for all things magic. Despite being an expert in the subject and overall what they do, Lucett is a considerably humble and modest person. Though when enabled, they're more than eager to play teacher to anyone asking or willing to lend an ear, and are a considerably powerful magic user.

They dream of entering one of Aetherain's prestigious magic schools someday to hone their craft, having studied tirelessly taking their own notes and photos documenting all the monsters and strange occurences they've witnessed over the years. They may not have the strongest social battery admittedly, but Lucett adores socializing and getting the chance to connect with others. Alongside their spouse, Giada, the two of them joined Opal's cause as a gesture of gratitute after an encounter with the Archmage had struck their town.

While seemingly calm and level-headed at a glance, Lucett loves pushing past limits and engaging in particularly risky experiments as a result. This means indulging in other's wacky little adventures too if asked. They also get excited when given the chance to instruct-- not to show off, but simply for the love of sharing knowledge and helping someone grow. They are an honest individual who prefers to speak in a very straightforward manner, so they won't hesitate to boast of anothers strengths or offer critique if it can genuinely help someone improve. Some may find it unwarranted or rude, yet Lucett means no malice or harm.

They also often like to keep themself busy as a means of distraction. Sometimes they get into their own head a bit, especially after tense moments. Despite being so open to talking about others, they can sometimes shrink on themself when being perceived at all. If complimented, they brush off the compliment, and if detecting criticism about something they do, they sometimes try to appease the other person by "stopping" the behavior to fix it. Though this doesn't usually work, as they burn themself out trying to fix things that they stop being able to pretend they can quit the habits.

Lucett was born in Flurris Peaks, to a mother and father they never got to meet. Due to their parent's financial instability and tensions rising in the region at the time, a family friend from Valverde took Lucett in as her own child in their place. Dorotea, their newly adoptive mother, lived alone in a small Valverde town and put her utmost into raising Lucett as well as she could.

Growing up, Lucett spent much of their time housebound, prone to dizzy spells, fainting and struggling with overall poor motor skills for as long as they've known. They often found themself playing with their cat Ana, or drowning in books about magic. They weren't in a particularly wealthy house, and with a decent amount of Dorotea's spending going into raising Lucett, going to a magic school like the ones in Aetherain was out of the question. To make up for it, Lucett would study with what was available, wanting to become a magic scholar and return Dorotea's kindness with the money from it.

Their closest friend during all of this time was their physician's child, Giada Floros. Despite having been considered a shy kid since moving to town, Giada was very comfortable and chatty around Lucett. The two got along very well, sharing the feelings of outcasts amongst other kids in their age group and enjoying listening to each others passions. Whilst most kids would poke fun at Lucett's interest in magic, Giada was more than willing to hear Lucett talk and stare in awe. Her visits made staying home so much more bearable, and at some point Giada would just start coming over whenever the chance arose.

For Lucett's 16th birthday, Giada had saved up enough working as their mom's assistant to buy Lucett a camera. Lucett quickly found a love for photography as a result. They struggle greatly with memory, so they adored the idea of capturing a moment forever with the click of a button. They started keeping a scrapbook for their photos, moments with Giada, with Dorotea, a few pages of just their cat. They also began keeping a journal for photos of monsters, of magical phenomena, and jotted down their research. At Dorotea's suggestion, Lucett decided to work as a photographer, mostly for wedding and special occasions.

All the while, Lucett's relationship with Giada became much closer. During the past couple of years, Lucett had been saving up for the funds to attend a school in Aetherain, while Giada was preparing to take their mothers place as a physician. As the two went into adulthood, they agreed to move in together and support each other as simply the person the other trusted most. It took a year or two before the two realized their longheld feelings for one another embarassingly enough, though the two often joke about those times now. They began properly dating for a couple years, and had wed after their 6th anniversary together.

Things for the couple had been smooth sailing since, rooting each other on wholeheartedly and working hard for their future together. Lucett's disability while still debilitating in some ways, grew more manageable with the help of physical therapy and finally having a mobility aid at least, so traveling far distances for work became a much easier task thankfully. In this time, Lucett had heard some strange rumors from various regions about monsters acting strange, yet never ran into any odd behaviors or caught any strange footage during these trips. Though things seemed fine, Lucett couldn't help but feel those thoughts lingering in the back of their head that maybe something was indeed wrong.

Their worries worsened when two years later, a traveler seemingly from Aetherain stumbled into town, begging for anyone to heed her warnings about yet again-- strange monster behavior. To Lucett's very clear lack of surprise, the townsfolk brushed her off and dispersed among themselves. Yet with so many people in the recent years reporting of such a strange phenomena, Lucett couldn't help but wonder if this was a matter worth investigating perhaps, and decided to approach the traveler to ask...
