Early Years; Mother's Footsteps
A twin born to Emmanuel Aguilar and Amalia Floros, Giada and her brother Etoze were born in a small Valverde town far off near the coast. To Giada, their childhood early-on had been a particularly difficult and grueling one. Though he doesn't have many good memories of that home, she always took solace in her mother's embrace, a gentle woman who always tried her best to shield her children from the man they lived with. Their father, the source of most of the house's tension, was a selfish man who didn't take the news that his wife bore no "sons" well. Much of Giada's time had been spent carefully walking on eggshells around her father, who was particularly quick to anger and only barked orders around the house.
When she neared 10 years old his mother decided to flee the house for her safety. Despite wanting to take her children, it was far too much of a risk and she feared being unable to provide for them right now, wishing to come back in a more stable place to get them. Giada however caught wind of this plan, and tried her best to convince Etoze to sneak out together to follow them. When she couldn't convince Etoze, she gave up and went to find her mother. Amalia was horrified to see Giada had followed her, but needing to leave in that moment she decided to take Giada, and regretfully left Etoze behind.
Adolescence; Her Choice
The following years moving with her mother were filled with guilt in young Giada’s mind. A guilt as she grew older, unable to think of if she made the right choice leaving Etoze. Countless nights she'd spend feeling as if she gave up on Etoze, feeling sick to her stomach not even knowing if he was okay or if he hated her for leaving. If she could've pressed more, said more, maybe he'd be safe with them too. She felt guilt for following her mother, the burden and stress she had with having to provide for herself and her child. The two thankfully managed to move in with a family friend the next town over for a few years just to get back on their feet, and Amalia was also starting to find work as a physician, but otherwise Giada sensed the toll his choice had on his mother, who still reassured Giada again and again that she was grateful to have him there despite it all.
During this time, Giada didn't have many friends as he felt a little bit of an outcast amongst all the other much more sociable and normal kids his age. The only peer he found herself warming up to was Lucett, who he came to meet as one of his mom's patients. Giada would often come over when Amalia had to check up on Lucett, but eventually she would just come over whenever she got the chance to. Lucett struggled with mobility among other things and was often housebound as a result, but Giada cared little of that and did everything to work around it instead. She decided to come over with all sorts of books and read them together, loving to talk about medical terms and hear Lucett talk about all sorts of magic in return. Neither of them were particularly "normal" people to society's standards, but to Giada, being with Lucett felt like the closest she's ever been to having a normal life.
