Jelv

A trendy college student living in the city studying costume design. Jelv comes off as a bit of a tease, finding enjoyment in poking fun at his peers and making light of situations to brighten the mood. He’s a huge romantic at heart and seems incredibly confident in himself, a ray of light that you can't help but smile and laugh with.

He and his family are actually very well known, but Jelv would rather stay out of the spotlight and avoids bringing up his family whenever possible. He has a rather low self-esteem and high expectations on himself as well, but tries to focus on literally anything else in order to distract himself. In it's place he gets very invested in the more mundane lives of those around him and is trying his best to live a more normal life with his friends now that he's living in the dorms. He feels that living away from home has been a breath of fresh air and wonderful for his own wellbeing, but it's also a little clear that this newfound freedom has also led to some more... unhealthy habits for him as well.

Jelv is a bit of a social-butterfly, trendy and outgoing at a first glance. She cares deeply for her friends, seen as someone you can lean on and share secrets with. He's really sentimental, caring, and enjoys hearing about the lives of others. Sometimes she appears nosy with how much he likes to prode with questions though. A delight to have around and chat to for the most part, but it can be noted that he hates talking about himself or his home life.

Leaving her disciplined and strict household has created many opportunities to experience her newfound freedom though, something she has quickly taken advantage of already. At the same time, new experiences make a great method for escapism when he doesn't want to acknowledge his stress or pains.

Jelv was born an only child to his mother and father, Eddy Cordero and Noemy Carillo. His childhood was filled with the constant shimmer of lights in his face, rehearsed lines and begrudging hours of scene retakes. From essentially the second he was born, his parents were determined to get Jelv's face out there as a child actor. He starred in movies, shows and ads of all kinds, whatever jobs his parents were able to find for him. They controlled every aspect of his life. His behavior, his social life, his diet. If he ever showed the slightest hint of defiance, they would "correct" that behavior. Jelv quickly learned to simply accept whatever was given to him, and play the part that would make his parents happy.

He did have two genuine friends admist all these forced relationships, those being Picotee and Isalea. Picotee was a fellow actor like him, while Isalea was a childhood friend who's parents were already close to Jelv's own. These friendships kept him a little more grounded in his busy life, just people he could play with and complain to about the annoyances of strict parents. The three would spend time during social gatherings by the beach, playing in the sand or in the waters, memories of shared laughs and those beautiful, vast garden of daisies by the coast. These fond moments, he would treasure so dearly.

As Jelv grew older, he quickly had to cope with a crushing loneliness over the years. Isalea and Picotee both moved away eventually. Isalea left to go live with her aunt and pursue her dreams of ice skating. Picotee's parents were given a better opportunity far away for their daughter, and promptly arranged to leave their current studio. Both promised to keep in touch, Isalea grew too busy to do so, and Jelv was never able to find out what was going on with Picotee as she never got back to them.

Jelv's first name, Jelvin, is an English name meaning "Gift of God." His other name, Sterling, was picked from the term sterling silver and was a projection from one of my names. His last name, Cordero, is a name of Spanish and Italian origins meaning "young lamb."

His father insisted on choosing his name so Jelv would quote on quote "fit in" to both his mother, and to Jelv's own later dismay when he learned why they picked it. Growing up, he much rather preferred people just shorten it to Jelv since he thought Jelvin was just a really ugly name. He also picked Sterling to test the waters of other names, and still uses it now and then- but is rather accustomed to simply Jelv still.

Jelv was originally designed as a blonde blue eyed white boy, and to be honest his design then was partially inspired by Len Kagamine. While I changed some colors, I did want to keep that magenta and deep blue color anyways for him because funny hex code numbers... if you know you know.
